I’d been looking at “Hawaii Dollars” only a few days earlier, so when I heard early this morning that a Tsunami Warning had been issued for Hawaii, I immediately thought of the happy beach scene on these medals, with the Pacific at its most friendly. (Below is the obverse.) Hawaii was hit by the tsunami this morning, of course, and suffered some damage. But there is little room on American TV this evening for the pictures of Hawaii, because--state or no state--there are just too many terrible things to see in Japan. v.
