Thanks for the mint info; but I note in the KM catalogs only the presence of the1958-dated pieces(?).

...The 1975 Vietcong series for South Vietnam (S#49-51), however, is of quite different and poor manufacture. One can guess that they were produced locally in Vietnam....
Vielen Dank!

I am glad to read this. My examples of the 1975 “Provisionals” are rather vague and softly struck—I was beginning to suspect they were counterfeits. Thanks!

...Only the 1953 coin series for South Vietnam (S#35-37) was made in Paris. The subsequent coinage from 1960 to 1975 (S#38-48) was produced by mints in Germany and the United Kingdom, see the Schön World Coin Catalogue (Weltmünzkatalog 20./21. Jh.), 38th edition 2010...
Erneut, Vielen Dank.

I was well-prepared to believe South Vietnam’s 1964-75 coins were not from Paris--they are so different from those before. But...
This assertion is a direct contradiction of the KM
2009 SCWC--“Note: The 1960 50 Su coin was minted by the Paris Mint with the French spelling of Su for Xu. The coin was restruck with the correct Xu, a new date of 1963, and is cataloged as KM#6.”
Like most members of the Forum, I can see problems with the KM catalogs almost every time I use them. But are they wrong here? Again, many thanks.
