I'm having dilemma how to grade this 2/3 thaler - gulden, this coin is quite rare so even half of grade can make big difference:

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

If the edge shows no traces of mounting I would see the coin between good fine or about very fine. But grading from a photo is very difficult. Regards, KarlAntonMartini

@KarlAntonMartini, thank you for your opinion.

Coin haven't been mounted. It has for sure very fine details or better but there are traces of heavy warn on the top of the coin, which degrades the quality, unfortunately.

That's why I wouldn't say "very fine", but this opinion is made of the photo only. And as I collect british coins I am used to the stricter grading rules in GB, some dealers on the continent would buy the coin as "fine" and sell as "very fine". ;)

I'm collecting coins from the 19th century, but there are differences in grading the coins from 17th century and earlier and 19th century. Grade F (Fine) would be a compliment if this is a 1883 coin, but coins from 17th century have rather shallow strikes so they are quite susceptible to wear down and such coins usually get better grades then the modern coins with the same level of details.
