Some (possible!) inside information for the members of the Forum... This weekend I had the good luck to buy several envelopes of coins assembled and sold by a large coin company about 1965 or so. One of the envelopes (original price in ’65, $2.75) contained this set of Hungarian coins: The 1946 2-forint was the one I was interested in, but it was the coin at upper right that was the total surprise....

This 1948 50-filler is unpriced by Krause (2012) above EF, and in F/VF/EF it catalogs for $65/90/175. Amazing. But beware....the coin company that sold this set very likely assembled a number of them. In Hungary these coins in higher grades might be scarce and expensive, but who knows how many of these coins were included in these mass-marketed sets? Anyway, just wanted to pass along a note of caution about the 1948 50-filler to my friends at the Cafe.  v.
