Afrasi, have you ever found one of the round 25-c coins that had been silver-plated to mimic the 50-c? And you're right, I think; in my experience too the reworked 25-c are most often worn coins. I haven't always looked, but I don't think I've ever seen a better one than than this. v. |

There is a heavy worn piece of the early quarter (#HSc06b), on which occur perhaps small traces of silvering. I need to buy a microscope soon ... Perhaps this one is the one you mentioned? If not so, I would be very glad to get such a piece, of course. gallery/image_page.php?album_id=1037&image_id=5169 Also I have a crude fake of 50 ct in cast "brass", better: "yellow metal". At last I have a fake of 50ct in copper, which was silvered once before. I just see, these both are missing in the gallery, so I show them here. But these pieces have a smaller diametre than the early quarters(#HSc06).

Thanks for the images, Afrasi. Always fun to look. Some time ago I got a bad feeling when I realized I hadn't checked my own silver 50-c pieces to see whether they were actually 25-c pieces in disguise. Turned out they were genuine 50-c coins, but on reflection I wasn't really sure whether I was relieved or disappointed. Apparently I want a well-silvered "50-c" too! v. |
